Happy New Year!
A bit late, but no less sincere!
Wow, it’s already the middle of January!
I know this for sure because my lovely in-laws celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with us - today - so it must be January 15th as I am typing!
I’m going to make this one short and point you to a repeat of an earlier newsletter until I can wrangle some things into submission. I have some Musings lined up - but everything right now is somewhat on hold while I meet a Little Looms deadline (for Winter 2026, which will be here before we all know it.) This was a project that got larger after an editorial discussion - so now it just needs to be woven…
The Spring Little Looms is out, and I love the twill scarf on the cover! I honestly haven’t had a chance to do more than flip through it as yet, but they send us these lovely photos to share! I’m looking forward to getting this pillow1 back as I originally just designed it for my own use, so it has an immediate home. That’s not always the case with items they return to me.
The Online Rigid Heddle Guild has started!
We had our first meeting last week and it was fantastic! Everyone seemed to enjoy it. It was so much fun talking rigid heddle weaving with people who are passionate about it - as opposed to, say, family members who are supportive, but whose eyes start to glaze over at some (far-too-early) point. Not everyone who attended chose to be on-screen, and that was fine! We had plenty of folks willing to talk.
Our next meeting is February 12th, 8:00pm Eastern time. We will be having a show-and-tell, some chat about an on-going “slow weave along?” We need a good title for this - but an ongoing investigation into a weave structure or something similar. I think we are starting with color-and-weave - which is a huge field, so there’s something for everyone. We will also have a short program on the history of the rigid heddle loom.
If any or all of that sounds like something you want to participate in, the link to Mingo’s Corner on Patreon is here! The free tier will get you some info, FAQ’s, and occasional announcements; Guild Membership is paid and is $10 a month.
Now, for me to get back to the current projects-in-process! But for some more content, some of which is just fun to review, I will leave you with this:
Ahhh…the days when I had a lot more time to write. I need to recapture that! Enjoy!
